Qingyang moves, writes and performs. These three strands often inform one another. With a background in theatre, movment and literature, her recent practice is interested in bold yet authentic blending of forms, creation of embodied poetic spaces, the intercultural, the interdisciplinary and the intersectional, as well as art as healing. Qingyang has previously borrowed from traditional Chinese dances and poetry to experiment with contemporary performance approaches, which enriched her intercultural performance and movement practice. Her works have been presented at the likes of London Performance Studios, Berlinale and FUSE International.
“During the Lab residency I will work on the interdisciplinary experiments and R&D towards making my current performance project Bamboos Waiting. This includes testing out collaborations towards a coherent collaborative creative structure that serves the piece, devising and experimenting with research-based narratives, movement, architecture (including traditional Chinese architecture and beyond), design and poetry, as well as the interweaving of these layers” – Qingyang
