Rudzani Moleya (They/Them) is a South African–born, London- based multidisciplinary performing artist, movement director, facilitator, and dramaturg who explores identity, embodiment, and interdependence through movement, voice and performance. Their practice is rooted in somatic, improvisational and water-informed movement, using the body as an active-living archive and a portal for connection and repair.
“During this residency I will be developing my one person show”Papa Is Not Dead”. A semi autobiographical piece looking at the impact of colonialism on the land and the body. It follows Lerato moving through space (London and South Africa) and time (1960- present day) as she retells her family history and realising the impact apartheid had on her home soil and the bodies of not just herself but people in her family. Papa Is Not Dead blends storytelling and movement in a poignant show about grief, family and the price of silence. Developing this deeply personal and relevant work during this residency in the particular space feels exhilarating.” – Rudzani
