Roise Goan, a white woman with short blonde hair. She wears red lipstick and red earrings.

Artsadmin today announces that Artistic Director Róise Goan will be leaving the organisation to take up the role of artistic coordinator at Arts Centre VIERNULVIER in Belgium. Róise leaves having co-led Artsadmin through a period of significant change, taking the helm from founder Judith Knight in 2019. Through the challenges posed by Brexit and Covid-19,  alongside Executive Director Deborah Chadbourn, she led the team through a co-created strategic review and planning process, continued delivery of major international projects, a renewed and relaunched artist support programme and the appointment of a new board, leading to a successful Arts Council England NPO bid earlier this year, alongside new Executive Director Ben Cooper-Melchiors.

“My time at Artsadmin will be fondly remembered for the wonderful people I had the privilege to work with. From the team who were here when I arrived, to the team we are now, an excellent and supportive board, an extraordinary cohort of visionary artists, and brilliant project partners in London, all over the UK and internationally, I have learned so much.

Throughout a period of enormous change in the world, and particularly the UK arts sector, Artsadmin continues to be an organisation that lives its values and is led by the courage and vision of artists who want to make the world a better place. It has been an honour to serve that vision.”

Róise Goan

“Róise has led Artsadmin through an extraordinary time in history.  She has done this with an unfailing sense of integrity, professionalism, kindness and humour.  We have learned so much from her, and she will be deeply missed by Artsadmin’s staff and board and by the artists and partners we work with.  We wish Róise all the very best in her new role, which she will be taking up at the beginning of May. VIERNULVIER has been a valued European partner and co-producer for Artsadmin and we look forward to strengthening our relationship further with Róise at the helm of the artistic team there.”

Jeremy Smeeth, Chair of Trustees

Róise will leave Artsadmin at the end of April 2023 and we will announce plans for the recruitment of a new Artistic Director in due course.
