Whilst Artsadmin’s team and tenants are working remotely, Toynbee Studios resident and digital artist, photographer and filmmaker Mark Morreau has created timelapse films of the now empty spaces from dawn to dusk – and they make for mesmerising viewing.

“Toynbee Studios in ‘normal’ times teems with life: the studios full of folk creating, making, rehearsing, producing art. The corridors, stairs and café are packed with people learning lines, practising arias, working out choreography. On March 20, all that stopped in its tracks. Since then, I have been almost the only person at Toynbee Studios, and felt compelled to record this unique and eerie emptiness. Now the passage of ‘lockdown’ time is marked only by the shadows and light passing through the studios.”

Black text in the bottom left hand side of the image reads 'Do we look different?'. A messy, hand-drawn neon green arrow points to these words from the top right hand corner.
