as the mother of a brown boy…
Performance on 5th June in association with INQUEST.
A mother remembers the life, and untimely death, of her mixed race son and his struggle for identity in a multi-racial society.
Told through dance, physical theatre, music and multimedia, this story will take you on a stark journey to find the truth behind an individual’s life: choices made; relationships lost and found; self-fulfilling prophecies; injustice; but most importantly, love.
Brought to you by Chickenshed, this critically acclaimed production was short-listed for “Best original work by a collective/ensemble” in the 2007 Total Theatre Awards and for the Freedom of Expression Award by Amnesty International at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe last year.
