Summer School Snapshot

Artsadmin’s Summer School, created and directed by Mem Morrison, ran throughout August 2008 and culminated in a performance in the Steve Whitson Studio by a group of ten young people. Exploring the changing skyline of the East End, the project involved the group building relationships with local people; talking to bankers, helping city farm workers and conversing with rag and bone men about subjects as diverse as the weather to the Profumo affair, combining these with their own stories and histories to create the final performance.
Mem and the group will talk about how they created the work and show video from the performance and there will be a chance for audiences to feed back their perceptions of the work. Members of the group will also lead workshops developed from the project with audiences, sharing their own experiences and providing a taster of what the Summer School is all about.
