On The Field

Ackroyd & Harvey

On The Field, Ackroyd & Harvey

UK based artists Ackroyd & Harvey are creating a specially commissioned work for The Mladi levi Festival. The artists are renowned for their extraordinary bio-chemical living photographs, they have shown in museums and contemporary galleries world-wide, and have presented work in diverse contexts outside of the exhibition space.

Their photographic material is nature itself: thousands of blades of grass, grown vertically under controlled light conditions, provide a highly light-sensitive surface that captures beautiful and haunting images rendered in hues of yellow and green.

Ackroyd & Harvey’s artwork makes explicit connections with urban political ecologies by highlighting the temporal nature of processes of growth and change in sites of architectural and ecological interest. The artists’ project On the Field quite literally germinates and grows in response to the place originally known as On the field, nowadays turned into a platform surrounded by the renovated Slovene Ethnographic Museum in Ljubljana, National Museum of Slovenia and Museum of Contemporary Art on Metelkova street. This location will also host the presentation of the project On the Field.
