Tim Spooner Demonstrates 24 Grotesque Manipulations

Tim Spooner

Tim Spooner will present some upshots of recent experiments with unusual materials and ideas in a performance at Toynbee Studios on the first day of spring.

Tim creates work which seeks to illuminate, in deliberate but delicate and poetic ways, the “Phenomenon of Meaning”. His concerns with symbolism, cartoons, metaphors and other sublimations in language manifest themselves as paintings, installations, writing and live shows.

For this event Tim will demonstrate a collection of altered objects with particular properties – from the blithe to the macabre,  with elements of spontaneous combustion and a sideways take on puppetry along the way. The body is filtered through the mind to produce a collection of flawed walking machines, nervous sculptures and cartoon protoplasms.

This work is being supported through Artsadmin’s Artists’ Bursary Scheme, and through ongoing dialogue with the artist Frances Scott.

Please join us for an informal and celebratory evening of performance, talking and drinking on Monday 21 March. Tim’s performance will begin at 8pm, doors and drinks from 7.30pm.

Artsadmin’s Bursary Scheme 2010-11 is supported by Artsadmin, Arts Council England, Centre for Excellence in Training for Theatre at Central School of Speech and Drama and by generous donors to Small Change.
