Yellow Patch
Zarina Bhimji
Zarina Bhimji's latest film installation Yellow Patch (2011), shot on 35mm, on location in India, premieres simultaneously at Whitechapel Gallery, London and The New Art Gallery Walsall. Inspired by trade and immigration routes across the Indian Ocean between India and Africa, Yellow Patch is an exploration of space with a characteristically evocative use of sound.
The film focuses on distinct details of the landscape and architecture. Yellow Patch will be the centrepiece of the artist's first major UK survey show at the Whitechapel Gallery, an exhibition which traces the development of Bhimji's work over the last 25 years.
Yellow Patch is generously supported by Outset Contemporary Art Fund, Arts Council England, de Appel arts centre Netherlands, The New Art Gallery Walsall and individual donors, with producers/executive producers Artsadmin.
