Breathing Space and Anna Halprin – Artists in conversation

Taking place alongside a screening of Anna Halprin’s Breath Made Visible.

Dance Art Foundation Artistic Director Joe Moran is joined in conversation by Dr Libby Worth (co-author of Anna Halprin for Routledge) and guest artists to discuss the distinct and radical influence of dance pioneer Anna Halprin on international dance. Anna Halprin is widely credited for ‘creating revolutionary directions for the art form and inspiring fellow choreographers to take modern dance to new dimensions’ over the past seven decades. Her seminal exploration of dance improvisation was deeply influential on the artists of Judson Church Theatre in New York.

Anna’s work with dance and those living with life-threatening illness inspired Dance Art Foundation’s Breathing Space programme, which Joe will discuss within the context of Dance Art Foundation’s wider work and the artistic ethos that underpins the programme.

This public talk is part of Dance Art Foundation’s 10 year celebrations of its national Breathing Space dance-in-health programme: a series of events, performances, screenings and talks across 2012.
