#2DegreesFestival | Isa Fremeaux: New Narratives of Survival and Collapse

Isa Fremeaux (co-founder of The Laboratory of Insurrectionary Imagination with John Jordan) will read a powerful open letter about withdrawing from a political arts festival. Written in October 2014, the pair decided to take action because one of the festival’s main funders – a bank – invests in the development of oil refineries.

Isa and John have started on a path out of oil culture, towards whatever lies beyond, inspiring many to join their energetic activist efforts. The letter leads to a discussion about the paths and actions we can take to start to leave oil culture behind: how to generate new narratives of survival and collapse that will come to dominate life on this planet in the coming decades.

This is the fourth in a series of public talks accompanying Brett Bloom’s Breakdown Break Down workshop. Each presenter shares insights into the theme explored during the day’s workshop and has been asked to give their talk without electronic devices or power.
