straybird artists – Becky Edmunds and Lucy Cash – will be premiering their new video work alongside a photographic exhibition by Zoe Manders during Cinecity Festival this autumn. 

Filmed in the soon to be demolished Circus Street Market Hall,  the artists pay tribute to this unique building,  reflecting on its distinct architecture and the role it has played in the lives of generations of Brighton families.   

Various members of these families; grandfathers, fathers and sons who worked at this wholesale fruit and veg market, were  invited  to describe what the site looked , sounded  and felt like at the height of its working life. 

The resulting installation of still and moving image  has a  choreographic sensibility as the patterns and rhythms of their disappearing way of life are revealed.
