At Home in Gaza and London is a Station House Opera performance project, bringing people together across great political, economic and physical divides.
Using a mix of live-streaming from different locations, artists occupy each other’s homes, streets and other social spaces to share their everyday lives. At times they even dissolve into each other or become ghostly protagonists in the drama.
The project opens a new way for artists to engage with each other across the world, and invites audiences to meet and get involved, presenting a fresh and personal response to Gaza and its isolation. During a four week workshop, from 17 October to 13 November 2016, twenty artists from a variety of disciplines, including theatre, film, visual arts and photography, will develop their stories and interactions into a collaborative, site-specific theatre piece – culminating in a live performance with audiences in Gaza and London sharing the event.
On Sunday 13 November, the sharing will be followed by a Q&A with Julian Maynard Smith, Artistic Director of Station House Opera, Taghrid Choucair-Vizoso and Ryvka Barnard, global justice campaigner at War on Want.
