Homework Club: ACE R&D Project Funding

The Apocalypse Reading Room at Free Word Centre. Original graphic design: Denny Kaulbach; Photography: Rowan Spray

Artsadmin’s Homework Club is a welcoming space for performance-based and multi-disciplinary artists, producers, and creatives to come together, learn and make progress on their projects.

Sessions encourage you to make space in your week to tackle tasks you’ve been putting off, whilst getting valuable feedback and support from Artsadmin’s producers. Each Homework Club includes an informative workshop followed by open co-working time.

About this series

This Homework Club series focuses on the new, time limited Arts Council England (ACE) Research & Development funding opportunity, which has temporarily replaced the Developing Your Creative Practice (DYCP) fund

This series is facilitated by Artsadmin Producers and offers practical guidance on Arts Council England’s Research & Development funding, with each session focusing on a different stage of shaping and strengthening your application.

Each session will begin with a 45-minute presentation and Q&A, providing practical insights tailored to that session’s focus. After the presentation, you’ll have time to work on your application or other related tasks, with Artsadmin Producers on hand throughout to offer guidance and answer any questions.

Dates & focus

All three sessions take place in the Artsadmin Cafe from 3 – 6 pm

  • Wednesday 11 February 2026 – Project Design
Developing your R&D idea and shaping a strong project proposal and timeline.
  • Wednesday 18 February 2026 – Budgeting
Understanding eligible costs and building a clear and realistic budget.
  • Wednesday 25 February 2026 – Application Review
Refining your application to ensure its complete, compelling, and ready to submit.

What to expect

A relaxed, welcoming atmosphere and supportive environment, held by Artsadmin’s programme team

  • Facilitation by Artsadmin’s Producers, with more on hand to provide a sounding board for thoughts or ideas
  • Time and space to connect with other artists and creatives
  • A focus on making progress with your own projects.

Who is it for?

This series is for artists and creatives at all stages of their careers who want to better understand and access Arts Council England’s Research & Development funding

Why join?

Because funding applications don’t have to be daunting or isolating. Homework Clubs are about collaborative learning, sharing experiences, and building confidence, with the support of a creative community.

What should I prepare?

Before the workshop, please read the ACE Guidance page for the Research & Development funding opportunity. Bring your laptop and any writing materials you prefer. It will be helpful to come with draft ideas, notes, or supporting materials related to your R&D project. You’re also welcome to bring specific questions, or any feedback you’ve previously received from ACE if you’ve applied before.
