THE HUM OF PRESENCE

Bianca Scout and Samir Kennedy

Still from THE HUM OF PRESENCE

Whilst Samir Kennedy is in residence at Toynbee Studios from 5-9 July, we’re sharing a new video work by Samir and Bianca Scout.

Check out Samir’s Artsadmin’s Instagram takeover on Thursday 8 July.

THE HUM OF PRESENCE is a new video work by Bianca Scout and Samir Kennedy. What do we mean when we speak of the hum of presence? We mean the stalkers and the haunters, the visitors and the invisibles. We’re talking about the erotic buzz of a fridge on its last legs. The hum that transcends the dual carriageways and the motorways. Breathe and flesh that gives life to all the little bits of trash that litter our minds. How do we talk of oneness without one?

THE HUM OF PRESENCE was borne out of a series of ongoing collaborative experiments through sound, performance and video. Holding space within our respective worlds In an effort to share in our strangeness.

Bianca Scout (she/her) is a trained dancer, choreographer, self taught musician , writer, and performer. It is apparent, upon exposure to their craft, that all these explorations stem from an inseparable core of their being. Bianca’s performances combine/use/incorporate these practices to create visual montages/audio landscapes heavy in themes of the undead, pastoral memory, displacement and yearning. Their first release was with artist Klein which led to her movement direction of ‘Osanle” Klein’s fantasy ballet which was performed at the London South Bank Center in 2019. Performances with Mica Levi and Coby Sey where featured at The Serpentine Gallery where Bianca performed her own solo scored chorepgraphy. Bianca Scout has also been featured at The Royal Academy of arts, MIRA festival in Barcelona, Cafe Oto.

His work reflects a keen sense of contemporary political precarity and urban apathy.
