Last minute studio hire
Looking for an affordable space at short notice? We’re trialling a new offer with heavily discounted rates on studio spaces that become available between our longer-term bookings.
Available spaces will be advertised on our website up to two weeks in advance, offering a flexible and affordable option for those able to work at short notice. Bookings are available in half-day slots (10am to 2pm and 2pm to 6pm), with the option to book both slots for a full day.
It’s ideal for
- Meetings about plans and projects
- Rehearsing scenes or routines before a performance
- Bringing a small group together to workshop and deliver ideas
Who is this offer for?
This offer is aimed at individual artists, independent arts producers, collectives and small groups. The maximum number of people per space at any one time is 8.
So that we can keep track of how this offer is being used, when you book, we will ask a few short questions about who you are and what you are using the space for.
Spaces and rates
Last minute availability in the six main rehearsal studios will be included in this offer: Theatre, Fire Room, Court Room, Studio 3, Studio 5 and the Steve Whitson. Take a look at spaces for hire at Toynbee Studios for images, sizes and other key information about each studio.

Discounted rates range from £18 for our smallest space to £52 for our largest space for a half day. This represents a discount of 75% on our usual charity rates.
How to book
To check our current availability and to book, click on the Book button below and follow the instructions. Payment is required in full at the time of booking. You can cancel any time if you need to; cancel more than 48 hours before the booking was due to start to get a refund.

FAQs
Can I run a class from the space?
You can bring other people to the space (up to a maximum capacity of 8 people), but you can’t charge other people to attend, and you can’t sublet the space.
What about auditions and interviews?
You can run auditions and interviews, but please make sure you let someone at the Welcome Desk know when you arrive so they can direct people, or have a member of your own team at the Welcome Desk to greet people.
Can I request additional equipment or furniture?
There are tables and chairs in every space. If you need anything else you’ll need to bring it with you. This is so we can keep costs low by eliminating the admin of dealing with equipment requests.
I need a space in the evening or at a weekend: will space be available then?
At the moment we are only offering discounted space in our usual weekday opening hours. This is because we need additional staffing to support evening and weekend work which is not viable for this offer.
I need a space for longer than a day. Can I book that through this offer?
You are welcome to make several consecutive bookings subject to availability. If you need a guaranteed space for longer, you can make a booking through our usual hires process, but this will not be at a discounted rate.
I’ll be coming back. Please can I leave some things at Toynbee Studios?
We don’t have a lot of general storage space at Toynbee Studios, and other people may be using the studios you’ve booked over evenings or weekends, so you won’t be able to leave anything here between bookings. Everything you need must be brought with you and taken away at the end of each day.
Why isn’t the space I want to hire listed?
Our discounted space is only offered if we have no bookings made through our usual hires process. Some spaces are in higher demand than others and will therefore not be offered as frequently at discounted rates. If you need a specific space, email hires@artsadmin.co.uk to check availability and arranging a booking at full price.
