In August 2010, Geraldine Pilgrim was commissioned by Girlguiding UK to create a site-specific installation for the grounds of Harewood House, Yorkshire to celebrate 100 years of the Girl Guides.
The Be Prepared trail began in the formal parterre garden of Harewood House (home of Princess Mary, honourary president of the Girl Guides from 1920 to 1965) and traced the evolution of the movement from the gate-crashing of the 1910 boy scouts rally through two world wars to the exuberant and adventurous worldwide movement it is today.
