BANNER artists Lorie Jo Trainor Buckingham and Ana Vicente on their new work in progress
BANNER artists Lorie Jo Trainor Buckingham and Ana Vicente share the working process for a sharing of their durational work at Toynbee Studios on Wednesday 8 May in this blog.
On Thursday 2 May 2019, Lorie Jo and Ana travelled from London to Ventnor. At Ventnor beach as the low tide was rising, they each drew a straight line from the sea shore to where the imprint of the previous high tide was still visible on the sand. By the sea shore they moved with the tide as it raised. They each filmed this on their mobile phones.
On Wednesday 8 May 2019, over the duration of 180 minutes (or five 36 minute fractions), Lorie Jo and Ana will bring into the Fire Room five different elements of their current work process: they will mark out contour lines on the floor, play a soundscape of recordings of their conversations, screen the films of walking the tide, read excerpts of their research to each other and play the sound recorded when walking into the tide. These elements will exist in the room alongside other pieces of documentation of Lorie Jo and Ana’s process and their work.
Come and take a closer look at Lorie Jo and Ana’s process and work in the Fire Room at Toynbee Studios on Wednesday 8 May from 5pm, followed by a conversation with BANNER artist Sharon Fraser at 7pm in the Arts Bar and Cafe. Tickets are free, book here.
