Bob’s work explores the culture, languages and rules that are synonymous with recording and communication technologies, she uses these tools of mediation to play with their conventions. Her interests are in the contradictions and conflicts that arise when trying to re-present our perceived world through another medium.

Through a process of experimentation she investigates our understanding of distance, space & time and how an action or object relates to the sound it makes. The technology not only documents the enquiry but also becomes part of the work.

Adopting scientific or anthropological methods she makes installations, sculptural objects, performances, videos and wall based works that comment on the absurdity of the technology giving the work an element of playfulness and humour.

For her Artsadmin showcase Bob will talk about her recent residency at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, part of the Space for 10 programme, and the new work produced there. Examples of Bob’s previous work, and that of her collaborative practice with Rob Gawthrop as Automated Noise Ensemble, will also be shown.
