A Salon with Gertrude & Alice
Cindy Oswin
In the lively and heady atmosphere of a Paris Salon in the early twentieth century, the show explores the life and work of modernist writer Gertrude Stein and her life partner, Alice B. Toklas. The two women were hosts to numerous significant writers and artists of the period, including Picasso, Matisse, Hemingway and Scott Fitzgerald. Toklas lived in Stein’s shadow until after her partner’s death when ‘The Alice B. Toklas Cookbook’ became a bestseller. Drinks and refreshments from the cookbook will be served during the performance.
