Artsadmin’s Youth Board are starting a two year endeavor to source and run a new space for artists – be it a garage, loft, warehouse or office – where new artwork can evolve and live events can take place. The model will be borrowed and adapted from existing projects that follow a DiY ethos. in addition the Youth Board will offer their support and resources to aid the realisation of an artists’ work/project.
As a starting point, the Board are hosting a series of talks through which to explore how artists can set up their own spaces.

For the first of these events on 23 May, speakers Kate Mahony and Jordan Mckenzie from LUPA (Lock Up Performance Art), Holly Willats from Art Licks, Leah Clements from The institute of Jamais Vu and representatives from local council property teams will talk about their experience of finding spaces, running events and how these spaces can be supported and funded.
