Dominoes

Station House Opera

Dominoes takes as its starting point the simplest of ideas… a line of dominoes. Thousands of breezeblocks are used to create a moving sculpture which runs across the city, unfolding over the course of the day.

From the quay beside the Maritime Museum, the trail will fall from the roof of Zadkine to continue into Ro Theater and Witte de With street. It will then take to Rotown, go right through the Pauluskerk and Rotterdamse Schouwburg to complete its run spectacularly in the Schouwburgplein.

Here are some of the audience responses from Dominoes Melbourne (February 2016):

“… All cultures and ages came together and smiled.”

“We watched bits of it through peoples legs, over peoples heads, through peoples crooked arms, on peoples phones, through our own eyes, basically in all sorts of ways, and it was an absolute joy to behold. Fantastic job Arts Centre, Dominoes Crew and Dominoes Volunteers!”

“It's proof that simple creative ideas could make a big impact in the society.”

“The concept of the city simultaneously falling apart and coming together was magical.”
