Homework Club: ACE R&D Project Funding 101
Artsadmin’s Homework Club is a welcoming space for performance-based and multi-disciplinary artists, producers, and creatives to come together, learn and make progress on their projects.
Sessions encourage you to make space in your week to tackle tasks you’ve been putting off, whilst getting valuable feedback and support from Artsadmin’s producers. Each Homework Club includes an informative workshop followed by open co-working time.
About this session
This online Homework Club will focus on the new Arts Council England (ACE) Research & Development funding opportunity which is temporarily replacing the ACE Developing Your Creative Practice (DYCP) fund.
If you’ve been considering applying for the DYCP or the National Lottery R&D Project Grants and aren’t sure which is right for you, this session will guide you through the key differences, eligibility, and application process.
Facilitated by Louisa Borg‑Costanzi Potts, Artsadmin Head of Programme and Susuana Amoah Artsadmin Producer: Artist Support & Development, this workshop will provide a practical breakdown of ACE’s R&D funding streams, what you can apply for, how to shape your proposal, and top tips for submitting a strong application.
You’ll learn how to:
- Identify which fund best fits your project or practice (DYCP or NLPG)
- Understand ACE’s artforms and funding priorities
- Structure your responses to key application questions
- Confidently present your ideas in line with ACE’s guidance
The first hour will feature a presentation and Q&A with Louisa and Susuana, offering practical insights into ACE’s Research and Development funding opportunities. Afterwards, participants will break into small groups, where you will have the opportunity to connect with other artists, share what’s motivating you to apply for R&D funding, and hear about others’ creative journeys. We’ll then move into online co-working time, where you can start developing your application or work on related tasks. Artsadmin’s Producers will be available throughout the co-working session to answer questions and offer guidance via the Zoom chat.
What to expect:
- A relaxed, supportive online environment
- Facilitation by Artsadmin’s Producers
- Guidance tailored to artists working across live and interdisciplinary practices
- Time and space to make progress on your funding application
Who is it for?
This session is for artists and creatives at all stages of their careers who want to better understand how to access ACE’s Research & Development support.
Why join?
Because funding applications don’t have to be daunting or isolating. Homework Clubs are about collaborative learning, sharing experiences, and building confidence, with the support of a creative community.
What should I prepare?
Bring any notes or draft ideas for your R&D project. You’re also welcome to come with questions or past feedback from ACE if you’ve applied before.
