In his new installation, Monuments of…, Tim Spooner creates a collection of delicate miniature sculptures that represent the strangeness of the place and propose an alternative view of it.
By bringing together and recombining overlooked pieces of the place, Tim creates an abstract model village that demands to be explored in detail – visitors will experience it as both an alien landscape and a strangely familiar one.
The installation evokes Tim’s fascination with the totemic power of objects and a sense of the specific and the local that they carry despite their abstract and mysterious nature. He invites visitors to examine the objects closely and interpret them as buildings, monuments, natural formations or inhabitants.
