Bernadette Russell & Rob Kennedy: Sign of the Times

What do you want? Create a placard and stage your own protest.

Sign of The Times is a free workshop with artists Bernadette Russell and Rob Kennedy, open to all ages.

You are invited to answer the question, 'what do you want?' through the time-honoured medium of the placard, humble bearer of political protest and retail discount offers in our cities. The placards will be on public display, anonymously and collectively demonstrating the desires of us all.

Bernadette and Rob will encourage people to discover something they wish to protest about. It might be a need or desire, a response to something, for something concrete or for something unrealisable. The placards will then be displayed on and outside Toynbee Studios and online. 

Sign of the Times was originally commissioned by The Tetley Gallery, Leeds (2014) and was part of Fun Palaces (2015) at the Unicorn Theatre, London.

It will be part of The Troublemakers Festival in Swansea 13-16 July 2017.
