Weekender: La Ribot

Coinciding with a rare visit to the UK to present her latest performance Another Distinguée, La Ribot leads a Weekender at Toynbee Studios open to sixteen artists.

Exploring themes in her work including the body, action and time, this Weekender will revolve around simple tasks questioning how we invent, create and shed identities. La Ribot will be joined by Another Distinguée co-performers Thami Manikhela and Juan Lorriente throughout the lab. 

Born in Madrid, La Ribot lives and works in Geneva. Starting during Spain's liberation in the 1980s, her practice borrows freely from the vocabularies of theatre, visual arts, performance and film. Her work highlights the friction points between these disciplines. For her, dancing is the starting point for multiple experiments rooted in the language of the body. Her live performance and video works have been presented across the world. 

This Weekender lab will be followed by the UK premiere of Another Distinguée, which takes place at The Place on the 16 & 17 May.
