the art of a culture of hope
the vacuum cleaner
James Leadbitter (aka the vacuum cleaner) and Jessica Huber – J&J – have created the art of a culture of hope, a research project which confronts the catastrophes and misfortunes of the contemporary world and opposes the politics and social structures of fear with the utopian idea of a ‘Culture of Hope’. Through an open research process made up of workshops and performance provocations from a line-up of international artists, J&J ask: “How can we create a space for potential, a space for hope?”
Travelling across Europe this Autumn, J&J facilitate discussions and actions about our values, fears, hopes and collective future.
In Riga, J&J will be leading a series of Space for Hope workshops with local community groups, before sharing some of the research, ideas and stories behind the project in a performance lecture, the art of a culture of hope: A Sharing on 8 September.
