Maya joined Artsadmin as Engagement Producer in January 2023. She has worked in creative engagement with children, young people and adults across a range of art forms and contexts and has worked with organisations such as Southbank Centre, Camden Art Centre and Tramway. Maya is interested in co-curated community practice, intergenerational play, creating safer spaces for underrepresented communities and finding creativity in unexpected places.
She is studying an MA in Arts & Learning at Goldsmiths, her research looks at how anti-racist, anti-institutional models interact with institutional frameworks. She is currently building her tools of practice: a series of resources that form a methodology and manifesto outlining core principles and strategies within arts participation. A key focus is on the intersections of chronic health, neurodivergence and blackness within socially engaged practice.
Maya also loves nineties TV, cats, football and spending time in Glasgow, where she lived for 8 years.
